Minutes of the general meeting of
Show-Me Cosmopolitan Club
November 4, 2021

After a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner, the meeting was called to order by Tim Echternach, President.

Prayer (Blessing):

Jan Barry gave the prayer including a special prayer for Laura Koepke and her family.

Attendance:

Fifteen members were in attendance.

International web site:

Dayton presented information on the new web site.  There are still unanswered questions, but the new site should be up soon.  Everyone should have received an email with the temporary password.  That password is:  ChangeMe!  Please contact Dayton if you need this information.  It is set up so we can see other club’s events if they have been entered.  The secretary was requested to get on the site and become very familiar.

Treasurer’s Report:

Bill Tetro gave a treasurer’s report and also a report on funds received from the Walktoberfest.  The check register balances out correctly with $10,491.94 with the bank.  We have received $1250.00 from the Walktoberfest.

Bingo:

Bill also gave a request that more people step up to work.  Bingo is our biggest fund raiser.  John Huber sets up.  Bill Giddings also helps set up.  Jan Barry attempts to keep a group of at least three workers every Wednesday.  The shifts last about four hours.  It is work but was pointed out that you get to know your fellow Cosmos even better.

VAC Report:

Names were given out earlier in the evening.  Phyllis requested that we bring gifts unwrapped or in bags labeled with the name and number of who the gift is for.  John Kadlec will help Phyllis get the gifts to location VAC has set up. We have done this for many years and it has always been successful.  Phyllis thanked the club for following thru.

Club social:

November 28th is the three-club social at the building.  It is always a fun time decorating for Christmas and learning more about other club members as you get to visit.

New treasurer:

Larry Benton will be our new treasurer, if no one steps up by Monday.

Club officers:

Kay made the motion that we accept the plan presented by Larry Benton for a club president to serve two months as president-elect and two months as president.  Dayton seconded the motion.  The motion passed.

There was much discussion as to if the two-month presidents will also serve on the board as past president.  This will need to be discussed in the future

First two-month president:

Elaine McCoy made the motion that Bill Tetro be our president for July and August, 2022.  Kay seconded the motion.  The motion passed.

Bill Tetro will serve as the first president in July, 2022.  Bill has detailed plans to keep us on track and keep communication clear.  A committee will start meeting in January to map out plans for the year and to help in working on the budget.  Bill has several ideas that will be presented after the committee has met.

Meeting Place:

Tim had the following report:

Woodrail Country Club one of our members must be a member there in order to use their facilities.

Columbia Country Club would require 30 members minimum at $20.00 per person.  The good part is we would have more input on the type of food we receive.

The other alternative is to move around to different restaurants.  The draw backs are many are not big enough – we would be too crowded.  Also, many restaurants are charging for use of their rooms.

The suggestion was made to look into using the Columbia Country Club one time a quarter (4 times a year).  Tim will look into this.

Scrip program:

Kay discussed the program and how easy it was to use.  This would be an easy way for all members to help with fundraising.

Donation:

Jennifer Jackson thanked the club for the laptop donated to the Diabetic Center.  She said they are using it and it has been very helpful in assisting patients and the staff.

50/50:

50/50 was won by Elaine McCoy.  The amount was $21.50.

Adjournment:

The meeting was adjourned by all standing and saying the pledge.

Show-Me Cosmopolitan Club
November 23, 2021

Attendance:
Those in attendance were Brett Benton, Larry Benton, Kay Brejcha, Tim Echternach, Elaine McCoy, Brian McNeill, Dayton Shepherd.

December meeting menu:  4 Points Catering will be  catering. The menu is ham, scalloped potatoes, country green beans, roll, and gooey cake for dessert.

New treasurer:

Larry Benton was appointed treasurer for the remainder of the year.  Dayton Shepherd made the motion that Larry be the new treasurer.  Brett Benton seconded the motion.  The motion carried.

Bill Tetro will be training him.  Larry assured us he would work on using the method Bill has developed, but if he has problems our monthly report will be very simple.

Treasurer’s report:

Bill Tetro was not in attendance, but provided the board with a complete report of the finances.

Bingo:

Jan Berry is having trouble finding workers for Bingo this month, since it is the night before Thanksgiving.  We still need more workers on a regular basis.

Scrip Program:

Kay Brejcha gave a report on the Scrip program.  She encouraged all the board members to put the Raise Right app on their phones and try it out.  She felt if the board members were using the program, they could encourage other members to use the program.  After reading reports from other organizations, most of them have a separate checking account to have more accurate book keeping on this project.  Kay recommended that we consider doing this.

Adjournment:

                The meeting was adjourned.
