Minutes from the 9.28.21 Board Meeting of the Show-Me Cosmopolitan Club

The virtual and zoom meeting was called to order at 5:35pm.
Attendance:
Brett Benton, Kay Brejcha, Sara Echternach, Tim Echternach, Elaine McCoy, Brian McNeill, Dayton Shepherd and Aaron Zaner. Also in attendance was CeCe Benton, Larry Benton, Bill Tetro and Judy Weitkemper.

Officers for next year:
Larry Benton spoke to the issue of not having a president elect and a treasurer.  When he was at the International Convention, he talked to the Souix City club with the same problem.  They had six people who were club president for two months.  Each member served two months as president-elect and two months as president.  He suggested that we do this.  As far as the by-laws are concerned, we strive to do what they say, but it is not the end of the world if we cannot.  Larry has offered to line up these people up. Kay made a motion that we accept this plan.  Dayton seconded the motion.  The motion passed. This will be presented at the next general meeting.

The October meeting:
Guest speaker will be Gabe Huffington.  Dinner will be two different types of chili with all the extras provided by the Echternachs.  It will be $5.00 a person to cover supplies.  Bill Tetro will supply a dessert.

Club Socials:
Recently each member should have received an email about three club socials.  CeCe has volunteered to work with Sara on these events.  The next social is sponsored by the Luncheon Club. It is Friday October 22nd.  The theme is Octoberfest.  We will play Bingo and have beer and brats.

Walktoberfest:
We are once again doing a virtual walk.  You can walk anytime during the month.  There are sheets available for each walker to get pledges for their walk, which is encouraged.  Bill Tetro will send this form to Tim to send out to us.  We still need sponsors.  We will have t-shirts but not until after the event is over.  If they sponsor, we will get the shirt to the sponsor, with their name on it.  (*Cut off date is Wednesday, Oct. 20th) We will have a cut off date to have your name on a shirt.  The thank you to the sponsors will be in the newspaper the first or second Sunday of November.  All members are encouraged to participate in some way. John Kadlec has printed up forms if you do not want to use your own printer to print out what was emailed to you.

Contributions:
A laptop was presented to the Cosmopolitan Diabetic Center.  Jennifer Jackson and Dayton Shepherd selected the computer and Bill Tetro picked it up.  Jennifer had consulted with the staff at the center for the exact type needed.
Pediatrics Center and the Pediatrics Endocrinology Center at Women’s and Children still need to decide what we can present to them.  They also have a $500.00 check from last spring that has not cleared.  Jennifer Jackson will talk to Anita to see how to proceed.
The reason for presenting physical items is that when money is received it can affect future grants.

Club Runner:
We have paid for the first quarter (thru December).  The new program for International should be up and running sometime very soon.

Adjournment:
The meeting was adjourned at 6:48pm.

The Amazing John Kadlec cookin' up a storm for the September 2nd general meeting.

Thank You! John for a great meal!

General meeting minutes from 9.2.2021

Money was received in memory of Clarence Jett. Over $400 was donated.

Larry Benton reported on a proposed 3 club social committee. Lots of ideas to consider.

Walktoberfest is going to be virtual again, like last year. Forms are being sent out, as well as, John Kadlec making copies available.

Still have an outstanding check, written to Pediatric Diabetes Center. Otherwise, we're in good standing.
