Board of Directors Meeting - July 28, 2020
The meeting was called to order at 5:30pm by club President Tim Echternach.  Board members in attendance were Kay Brejcha, Time Echternach, Bill Giddings, Elaine McCoy, Brian McNeil, Todd Shelmadine, Bill Tetro, and Aaron Zaner.
Minutes: Corrections to previous minutes were corrected to read that Brett Benton was in attendance.  Also, Kay was to contact Maxine Powell about years of perfect attendance for two members after Brett noted a possible mistake on the list.
It was noted that during the pandemic that some items were voted on by email but not recorded.  The secretary will note these as they occur and add them as an addendum to the minutes.
Treasurer’s Report:  Bill Tetro, treasurer, gave a review of last years finances and a detailed treasurer’s report.  All but three checks have gone thru.  It was questioned if the checks had been received.  We will check with John Hubert to see if they were mailed.  Bill will be working on taxes.
Make Cosmopolitan Great Again:  Larry Benton gave an interesting and thorough report including history of the three clubs, the use of the building, and its potential if we make some major improvements.  This report is attached to the minutes.  Larry would like for each of the clubs to take this proposal under consideration.
Walktoberfest:  The Walktoberfest is set for October 4th at Lamb Shelter.  Music is lined up.  Tim has found a better deal on the T-shirts.  Tim will be on three radio stations starting early August promoting both the walk and the club.  Suggestions included:  due to the pandemic sponsorships will be down, we could not have the bounce house, we could not have face painting, and we do not know what the restrictions on social gatherings will be at that time.  We would need to provide hand sanitizer and use other precautions.  A discussion involved the possibility of providing donation button the web site for people to donate.  Elaine McCoy brought up the idea of a virtual walk.  Each walker would have their T-shirt mailed to them along information about the club and diabetes.  No motion was made on any of these items.
Sharing Cosmo:  Todd Shelmadine brought up the fact that we need to be on more social media and do more on Facebook and other media sites.  All agreed that this needed to be done.
Report on International:  Following Judy’s “Together We Can” the new theme is “Together We Will”.  The next international meeting will be in Sioux Falls, South Dakota at the Hotel Garden Inn, July  22nd thru July 25th  2021. Tim Dollens was awarded Governor of the Year.
Correspondence:  We received a request from Great Circle asking for $500.00, no deadline was noted.
Bricks:  The exact location of the bricks is not known and they need to be located.  We also need to find out when another wall is being set up or the existing one added to.
501C:  Elaine McCoy brought up a 501C for the club.  Tim is looking into this.  It is felt that we would be able to receive more contributions if we had that designation.
Future fundraisers:  Aaron Zaner suggested using our kitchen more and maybe using it to have three more fundraisers.
National Diabetes Month and National Diabetes Day:  All clubs will do something in November. It was suggested we do something at the new diabetes center.  What all three clubs have done in the past has been poorly attended and we want to improve that.  We will be looking into advertising more for this month.
The meeting was adjourned  at 7:10pm.
