Minutes of the general meeting of
Show-Me Cosmopolitan Club
October 7, 2021

The meeting was called to order after a chili dinner provided by Sara and Tim Echternach.
Speaker:
Gabe Huffington was the speaker.  He gave an excellent presentation on the Columbia Parks and Recreation plans for the future and how decisions are made on spending and budgeting.
Announcements:
Octoberfest, sponsored by the Luncheon Club, will be held at the building October 22.  It sounds like it should be a fun time.
There will be a golf tournament coming up this month for cosmopolitan club members.
Voluntary Action Center:
Phyllis Erhart gave a report on our association with VAC.  We have worked with them for over 20 years with Christmas gifts.  At the November meeting, Phyllis will have sign up sheets for family gifts.  Members may buy listed items for recipients or give money for food vouchers.
New web site:
International is testing the new web site.  The goal is to have it up and running by the end of the month.
Walktoberfest:
We are walking the entire month.  T-shirts will be ordered after the 20th and presented after the event is completed.  The cut off date is October 20th.  Jon Kadlec has printed forms for us to use if needed.
Membership Brochure:
Judy and CeCe will talk to John Kadlec on printing up our revised brochure.
Birthdays:
Laura Koepke
Brenda Hansen
Anita Hubert
50/50:
Aaron Zaner was the winner.
Adjournment:
The meeting was adjourned by the members standing and reciting the pledge.

Minutes of the Board Meeting for the
Show-Me Cosmopolitan Club
October 26, 2021

Attendance:
Those in attendance were Brett Benton, Kay Brejcha, Elaine McCoy, Brian McNeill, Dayton Shepherd, Bill Tetro and Aaron Zaner.
Cosmopolitan Day:
Cosmopolitan Day is November 6th.  At this time, nothing is planned.  It was suggested that next year a member will be requested to volunteer to head up a committee to plan an activity.  (As a footnote Cosmopolitan Drink Day is May 7th).
November Meeting:
The November Meeting is November 4th.  The approximate cost is $15.00.  The dinner will consist of some of the food we associate with Thanksgiving.  Sara and Tim will provide drinks.  Money is to be paid to Kay.  Please bring exact cash or checks.  The speaker will be Christen Stark from MU Healthcare.
Treasurer’s Report:
Bill Tetro attended the meeting and gave a complete report, including an update on the funds received for the Walktoberfest.  Kay was asked to send reminders for second quarter dues. At the time of this newsletter, we’ve received only $1,150 in donations/registration for Walktoberfest. Last year we received over $6,000, and that too was a virtual walk.
Suggestion from Larry Benton:
We will put the information from Larry’s letter to the general membership in the newsletter.  The membership will need to vote on these changes. 6 people would be President-elect for 2 months followed by President for 2 months starting July 2022.  It was also decided, if no one steps up to be the treasurer by the end of November, the board will nominate Larry Benton as treasurer.  Larry has volunteered to do this if no one steps up. Bill Tetro has agreed to train you. (the letter was sent to membership. If you did not receive it or may have accidently deleted it, let me know and I will send it to you.)
Location of meetings:
Elaine brought up the idea of going back to the Country Club for our meetings.  Several members have not been attending because they want the evening to be a little more special.  We also discussed eating at various restaurants in the area.  Brett suggested we check with both Country Clubs for an option. Tim will check with the Country Club to see if this is an option.
Web Site:
Dayton gave a report.  He asked that board members go to the new web site and check it out.  He will give a report at the November meeting to give the entire membership an opportunity to view the web site.  The board will need to make a decision at the November board meeting about the time to switch.  We will need to switch at some time in the near future as Club Runner costs will become cost prohibitive.
Adjournment:
The meeting was adjourned at 6:28.
