Minutes of April 8, 2021 General Meeting
Of
Show-Me Cosmopolitan Club

Tim Echternach called the meeting to order.  The meeting was held at the Cosmopolitan building.  Each member brought their own dinner.
MO-KAN Convention:
The convention is June 4th and 5th and will be held in Columbia.  Tim asked for a schedule and Judy Weitkemper will send one.
Hall of Fame:
The Hall of Fame Committee from our club included members of the Hall of Fame.  Larry Benton, Jan Barry, Maxine Powell, CeCe Benton, and Brett Benton.  They suggested three members names to be inducted into the Hall of Fame from which we needed to chose one.  The board recommended Bill Johnson as this year’s nominee.  Larry read his resume.  Phylis made a motion to nominate Bill Johnson for the Hall of Fame.  Bill Tetro seconded the motion.  The motion passed.
The banquet is the last Tuesday in May.
Larry volunteered to get with the other clubs for the plaques.
Treasurer’s Report:
Bill Tetro gave the treasurer’s report.  The bank statement shows a balance of $8086.36.  The check register shows a balance of $6102.36.  This is a difference of $1984.00.  Checks in that amount have not cleared yet.
He is talking to International about Club Runner and Sage.
He also talked about the budget.  Brett Benton, Judy Weitkemper, and Tim Echternach volunteered to be on that committee.
Ready for Spaghetti:
Many details were discussed and explained.  The committee has done an excellent job in putting this together.  April 30th is the big day.
Thank you notes:
Thank you notes from the VAC families who received gifts from us at Christmas were shown and read.
Bingo:
The plan at this time is for Bingo to start May 5th.
Speaker:
Kay Brejcha was the speaker.  She represented the Miracles 4 Margaret Foundation.  The foundation was started in memory of Margaret Louise Romph, Kay’s granddaughter, who passed away May 6, 2019.  Margaret’s injuries from a car wreck made it impossible for her to regulate her body temperature.  She was always cold and always had lots of soft blankets – always.  The foundation gives blankets (the soft kind) to children and siblings in hospitals, children in foster care, homeless students, and also to new babies at the Pregnancy Help Center.  To date since January the Foundation has given away approximately 650 blankets.  Donations of fabric and monetary donations are accepted.  All contributions are tax deductible.

Monetary donations are tax deductible. Blankets and gift cards to purchase fabric and/or blankets are also helpful.

Donations can be mailed to:

Adjournment:
The meeting was adjourned after the pledge was recited.

Board of Directors Meeting
April 27, 2021

President Tim Echternach called the meeting to order.
Attendance: Kay Brejcha, Tim Echternach, Bill Giddings, Elaine McCoy, Brian McNeill, and Aaron Zaner
Business:
Location of meetings/ideas to improve attendance/and items related.
After much discussion, the decision was made to start having the meetings at the Cosmopolitan Building.  We have not been able to meet our minimum of meals purchased at the Country Club, but still must pay for these meals.  Each meeting will be catered from various establishments.  Note, it is important to let members know to notify the caller when contacted to let them know if they will need a meal.  The cost will vary each meeting depending on the meal.
The thought was that this might help us get more new members by letting them see the building and giving them a tour to see the banners and plaques so they can see all the things the three clubs do.
After checking the by-laws, the social hour was changed from 6 to 6:30pm (BYOB).
Dinner served at 6:30pm.
Meeting to begin at 7:00pm
Elaine McCoy made the motion for the schedule change.  Brian McNeill seconded the motion.  The motion carried.
Hall of Fame Dinner:
Larry Benton has been working on this and more information will come out in the newsletter.
Officers for next year:
Larry Benton suggested at a previous meeting since this year had so few meetings and activities that the officers remain the same.  We would still need a President – Elect, a Treasurer, and two two-year board members.
Ready 4 Spaghetti:
The committee has been working very hard and it sounds like we will be ready to go.
Perfect Attendance:
Elaine McCoy made the motion “Because of Covid we forgo awarding perfect attendance the 20-21 club year.”  Aaron Zaner seconded the motion.  Several people who normally have perfect attendance were unable to attend the meetings we did have for health reasons and we didn’t have the usual extra activities to make up meetings.  The motion passed.
Dues for 2021-2022:
There will be no discount on dues this coming year because we will not be giving perfect attendance awards.
The meeting was adjourned.

A REMINDER:
Nominating Committee: Serious decisions may need to be made within the next 2 months regarding this and its resolve if we don't come up with a full slate.
Our club has been without a President-Elect this year.  We also know that Bill Tetro will not be our treasurer next year. (he has served for 2 terms, and so has Kay Brejcha as Secretary) The board is concerned about a full slate of officers for the coming year.  Suggestions/volunteers would be appreciated.

However, Larry Benton brought up at the March meeting that we should have the current Board continue into a second year. This is possible, however, we still will need: Secretary, Treasurer, and (2) 2 year At Large. Brian and Todd will move to one year, and Bill G. and Aaron will be done with their term.
